Dr. Matthew Arthaud, D.C., RN – Background & Credentials

Dr. Matthew Arthaud’s journey in healthcare started long before he became a chiropractor. In 2005 he entered the nursing field, caring for patients of all ages across diverse medical settings—a path that culminated in earning his Registered Nurse (R.N.) credential in 2018. During those years, he witnessed the body’s remarkable ability to heal and also saw where conventional medicine often chased symptoms instead of root causes. Motivated to provide more holistic solutions, Matt went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University – College of Chiropractic, one of the nation’s leading chiropractic schools.

With dual credentials as a D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) and R.N. (Registered Nurse), Dr. Arthaud offers a unique blend of medical knowledge and holistic healing expertise. He is licensed in Missouri to provide chiropractic care, and his nursing background gives him additional insight into anatomy, physiology, and patient care. This uncommon combination means you’re in skilled, knowledgeable hands that understand your health from multiple angles.

On a personal note, Dr. Arthaud is a family man and Missouri native at heart. When he’s not treating patients, you can find him spending time with his wife, Kara, and their six children. He loves reading, fishing, golfing, and playing musical instruments – hobbies that keep him balanced and well, just like he strives to help his patients be. Having experienced firsthand how chiropractic care improved his own family’s life, he’s excited to bring that same level of wellness to Chillicothe and the surrounding areas.

Our Mission and Values in Patient Care

Our mission is to help our community move well, think well, and be well. This phrase isn’t just a slogan – it’s truly the guiding principle of everything we do. At The Well-House Chiropractic, we believe in treating patients, not just problems. That means we take the time to listen to your story, understand your concerns, and craft a personalized plan that fits you. Our core values center on:

Compassionate Care

You’ll be treated with respect, empathy, and genuine concern. We understand how pain or health struggles can affect your life, and we’re here to help without judgment.

Holistic Approach

We look at the whole person. Rather than merely chasing symptoms, we seek out root causes and contributing factors – whether they’re physical, nutritional, or lifestyle-related. By addressing your health from multiple angles, we aim for lasting improvement, not just a quick fix.

Patient Empowerment

Education is a big part of our care. Dr. Arthaud will explain what he’s finding in your exam and why he recommends certain treatments. We want you to understand your body better and feel confident in maintaining your health. Questions are always welcome – we consider ourselves partners in your wellness journey.

Excellence and Integrity

You trust us with your well-being, and we take that seriously. Our clinic maintains the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and ethics. If we feel another specialist or form of care would benefit you, we’ll guide you in that direction. Your best interest is our priority.

Simply put, our goal is to provide patient-centered care that truly makes a difference in your life. Whether your goal is to get rid of chronic back pain, run a 5K, sleep through the night, or just play on the floor with your grandkids again, we’re here to help you achieve it.

Holistic Approach: Chiropractic + Functional Nutrition

The Well-House Chiropractic is more than a typical chiropractic office – we’re a holistic wellness center. Dr. Arthaud’s approach blends the hands-on healing of chiropractic adjustments with the power of functional nutrition and other natural therapies. By combining these modalities, we address your health concerns from multiple angles for more comprehensive results.

Chiropractic Care

At the core of our practice is gentle, effective chiropractic treatment. Through precise spinal adjustments and joint mobilizations, we help restore alignment, ease nerve interference, and reduce pain. This can lead to improvements in everything from back and neck pain to headaches, sciatica, and beyond. Dr. Arthaud is adept in both traditional manual chiropractic techniques and low-force methods – so if you’re nervous about the “crack and pop,” rest assured he can use gentle alternatives to make you comfortable.

Functional Nutrition

“You are what you eat” is more than an old saying – nutrition plays a huge role in how our bodies feel and heal. As a functional nutrition provider, Dr. Arthaud offers personalized nutrition and lifestyle counseling to complement your in-office treatments. In functional nutrition visits, we dive into aspects like your diet, digestion, energy levels, and lab work (if available) to identify underlying imbalances. Then we create a tailored plan involving strategic dietary changes, natural supplements (if needed), and habit adjustments to support your body’s healing from the inside out. The best part? Nutrition consultations can be done in person or via telehealth, so even if you live outside Chillicothe, you can take advantage of this service.

Additional Therapies

To further enhance healing, we may integrate therapies like cupping, therapeutic exercises, or stress-management techniques. Cupping therapy, for example, is an ancient technique we offer that uses gentle suction cups on the skin to boost circulation and relieve muscle tension. Many of our patients love adding a short cupping session to ease tight back or shoulder muscles – it feels like a deep massage and can accelerate recovery. We also provide sports physicals and wellness exams, making our clinic a convenient place to get your annual student-athlete forms completed or to have a holistic check-up.

By uniting these services under one roof, our clinic provides a one-stop destination for natural health care. Maybe you come in for back pain and discover that tweaking your nutrition boosts your energy and mood. Or you start with a nutrition consult and find that a chiropractic adjustment finally relieves those tension headaches. This integrated approach is what we mean by treating you as a whole person. Your body works as a system – so our solutions work as a system too.

Community Roots and Commitment

As a local practice, The Well-House Chiropractic is deeply committed to the well-being of Chillicothe and the North Missouri region. Dr. Arthaud chose Chillicothe for a reason – he loves the close-knit community and small-town values.

Dr. Arthaud’s background of growing up around healthcare providers instilled in him a desire to serve others. Now, as a chiropractor in his home state, he’s excited to give back to the community that has welcomed his family. You might spot Dr. Arthaud and his family around town at local events, school games, or out on Missouri’s beautiful hiking trails during the weekend. We believe in supporting our community not only through healthcare, but also through participation. Dr. Arthaud’s commitment to service shows up outside the clinic too—he’s an active member of the Chillicothe Rotary satellite group, lending his skills to local service projects and community fund-raisers.

We also understand that not everyone in our region has easy access to holistic health services. That’s why we strive to be a regional resource. Our office is located conveniently in downtown Chillicothe, but we welcome patients from all the surrounding areas – Trenton, Brookfield, Cameron, Kirksville, and everywhere in between. If you’re within driving distance, know that you’ll be treated like family here, no matter if you’re from the next town over or an hour away. And for those farther out, remember our nutrition and consultative services can reach you via phone or video. Your health is our mission, and we’re dedicated to making North Missouri a healthier place for everyone.

Lastly, the name “The Well-House” itself reflects our community spirit and holistic vision. In days past, the well-house was a place where people gathered for water – a source of life and nourishment. We chose this name to symbolize a gathering place for wellness. Our clinic is meant to be like a community wellspring of health: a place you can come for strength, renewal, and guidance on your health journey. We are honored to serve as that source for Chillicothe and its neighbors.

Our Clinic Environment – Where You’re Family

When you walk into The Well-House Chiropractic, you’ll notice right away that we’re not a big impersonal clinic – and we like it that way! Our space is warm, welcoming, and family-friendly. We’ve created a comfortable environment in a charming historic building at 519 Locust Street (right in Chillicothe’s downtown). You might be greeted by a friendly smile and some relaxing music in the background. We want you to feel at ease from the moment you step through our door.

Because we are a small, patient-focused practice, you won’t be getting lost in a crowded waiting room or rushed through a five-minute appointment. Instead, you’ll have one-on-one attention directly with Dr. Arthaud. He will personally handle your consultation, exam, and treatment, ensuring consistency and quality of care at every visit. This continuity helps build a true doctor-patient relationship where you’re comfortable asking questions and sharing feedback. We consider our patients part of our extended Well-House family – you’re not just a number to us.

Our clinic is equipped with modern chiropractic tables and therapy tools, but it still feels homey rather than clinical. Whether you’re 8 years old or 80, we’ll accommodate your needs. We even have special pillows and supports for prenatal chiropractic care (yes, it’s safe and helpful for expectant moms!), and gentle adjusting tools for babies and kids. For our seniors, we have seating and equipment to make treatments easy and comfortable, especially if mobility is an issue. In short, our environment is inclusive and adaptable – just as health care should be.

Success Stories from Our Patients

At The Well-House Chiropractic, we’re not just building a practice – we’re building a wellness family and a healthier community. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We hope our passion for holistic, patient-centered care shines through.

Frequently Asked Questions
About The Well-House

Dr. Arthaud is both a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) and a Registered Nurse (R.N.). He earned his chiropractic doctorate from Logan University in Chesterfield, MO and has years of experience in healthcare through his nursing background. This dual training gives him a well-rounded perspective on patient care. He is licensed to practice chiropractic in Missouri and stays current with continuing education to bring patients the latest in holistic care.

Our philosophy is a holistic, patient-centered one. We focus on treating the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. This means we combine chiropractic adjustments with functional nutrition guidance and other natural therapies to address the root causes of health issues. We value compassion, education, and personalization – our mission is to help you move well, think well, and be well through gentle, effective treatments and healthy lifestyle changes.

We offer a range of holistic health services. Our core service is chiropractic care – helping alleviate back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, and more through spinal adjustments and musculoskeletal therapies. In addition, we provide functional nutrition counseling (in-person at our Chillicothe office or via telehealth) to help with issues like digestion, fatigue, weight management, and overall wellness. We also offer cupping therapy for muscle tension relief, sports and school physicals for students, and general wellness exams for adults. Whether you need pain relief, nutritional guidance, or a preventive check-up, we have you covered.

Yes, absolutely. Dr. Arthaud has experience adjusting patients across the age spectrum – from infants only a few weeks old to seniors in their 90s. For children, chiropractic can help with issues like colic, ear infections, and postural problems, using very gentle techniques (no cracking or high-force moves). Kids often enjoy their adjustments and parents love that it’s a natural option for their child’s health. For seniors, we use special low-force or instrument-assisted methods tailored to older bodies, focusing on improving mobility and easing arthritis or joint pain safely. Chiropractic care is adaptable to each patient’s needs, and our clinic prides itself on a gentle approach. No matter your age, we will modify treatments to ensure comfort and safety.

No referral is needed. Chiropractors are primary care practitioners for neuromusculoskeletal health, so you can schedule an appointment directly with us without any doctor’s referral. Many patients come to us first for issues like back or neck pain, just as you might go straight to the dentist for a toothache. Of course, we also receive referrals from local physicians and we’re happy to co-manage care with your other providers, but it’s not a requirement to get started.

We understand that finances are an important part of healthcare. The Well-House Chiropractic is a private pay clinic, but we do work with Medicare and some insurance plans for chiropractic services. If you have Medicare, we can provide chiropractic adjustments covered under your plan (for acute conditions that meet Medicare’s criteria). For other insurance, our office can provide detailed receipts (superbills) that you may submit to your insurer for reimbursement if you have out-of-network chiropractic coverage. We also accept HSA/FSA funds. It’s best to call us with your insurance details, and we’ll explain your options. Our goal is to make care accessible, and we’ll assist you in navigating the payment process.

Scheduling is easy! You can call or text our office at (740) 823-9355 to book a visit or to get your questions answered. You’re also welcome to use our online booking system (just click “Book Online” on our website) to see available appointment times and reserve your slot. If you have general inquiries, feel free to send us a message through our website’s contact form or email. We strive to respond promptly and help you with any information you need. Whether you prefer to speak on the phone or handle things online, we’ve got you covered. Don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re here to help and we look forward to meeting you!

Our clinic is located at 519 Locust Street, Chillicothe, MO 64601, right in the heart of Chillicothe’s downtown. We primarily serve the Chillicothe community and surrounding towns in north-central Missouri. Many of our patients come from Trenton, Brookfield, Cameron, and other nearby areas – some even drive from as far as Kirksville or the Kansas City region for our holistic services. If you’re within a reasonable drive, we welcome you! For services like functional nutrition consults, you don’t even need to travel; we can do those via secure telehealth for anyone in Missouri (and beyond). No matter where you’re coming from, you’re welcome as part of our wellness community.

We stand out because of our holistic, personalized approach and our unique blend of expertise. Dr. Arthaud’s background as both a chiropractor and an RN means you get care that bridges holistic wellness with solid medical knowledge. We take the time to provide thorough evaluations and truly listen to your concerns, rather than rushing through visits. Our treatment plans are individualized – they may include chiropractic, nutrition guidance, and other therapies working together. And unlike a one-size-fits-all chain clinic, we focus on building a relationship and being your long-term partner in health. Patients often comment on how heard and cared-for they feel here, which is exactly our goal.
